The following curriculum guides are based on Montgomery County Public Schools. They use Amplify framework for ELA and Eureka Math (Great Minds). I also help with practice tests. MCAP starts at third grade.
Tutoring subject areas: ELA (reading, writing, spelling), math, social studies, science, study skills, organization skills
I use the learner’s IEP goals and objectives as a guide for materials. I try to align to what the learner is doing in school.

FAQ
Where do you tutor?
I tutor in person (within 10 minutes of Olney) or virtually (anywhere). In person, I usually go to the family’s home.
How long are tutoring sessions?
Each tutoring session is 50 minutes.
What do you work on?
I work on all core subjects. We have a conversation and discuss what is best for the learner.
Do parents have to be there?
The parents do not have to be with the learner during tutoring sessions. However, caregivers must be in the home while I’m there.
How many tutoring sessions do you recommend?
I generally recommend starting at least twice a week. It is difficult to maintain momentum with once a week.
Are sessions in person?
Yes, sessions are in person if you’re local in Olney within 10 minutes. Otherwise, lessons are virtual.
Do I need my own material?
Yes. Parents are expected to have pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and glue stick. You’re not required to have study material unless you want your learner to work on specific material. Otherwise, I bring material.
How do you know what to work on?
Parents send me the most recent IEP. I look over the goals and objectives. I meet with the learner and we work on different goals. After a few weeks, I draft an action plan. I want to get to know the learner, see how the learner learns, and establish a rapport first. I discuss the plan with the family and we move forward together.
How much are your sessions?
Sessions are $85/50 minutes
Do you write notes?
Yes. I keep a note system. I also send parents notes via email.
What are your tutoring hours?
Please fill out the contact form and send me the times you’re looking for, and I will get back to you about availability.
Do you work with homeschool learners?
Yes I do.
