In the beginning

When I was in high school, I found math to be intimidating. Now, as a teacher, I find it to be a lot like a puzzle. And I love puzzles. One thing I find is that math takes focus and practice. It’s a methodical process. For example, algebra is a subject where it’s best not to skip steps. I see students trying to skip a step by not writing out or showing their work. When this happens, a lot of time, they missed changing the sign, or they forgot to follow the rules of operations. Math is fun and now that I’m a math teacher, I get to do it every day. And I especially look forward to tutoring learners through new concepts and reviewing previous ones learned.
